An Established Community

In Whitby residents live in a beautifully designed community that's already grown up, with wonderful recreation, good shopping, a  library, primary and secondary schools and almost everything else you need right there! Located 20 kms from central Wellington, 15 kms to both the Hutt Valley and Kapiti Coast and 8 kms to Porirua City, Whitby can claim it is the ‘natural centre' of the region.  

Since the first Whitby sections were developed in 1970 over 3,000 homes have been built.  Whitby now has a population of over 10,000 residents with a high socio-economic profile.Market research has found that 43% of householders described their occupation as Professional/ Managerial compared to 32% in the Greater Wellington Area and 23% of the general population of New Zealand. Whitby residents also have a high level of education, 25% having university degrees or equivalent compared to 13% of the NZ adult population.
